2023 Reservoir Volleyball Summer League

We will enter Varsity and JV teams in the Maryland Juniors HS Summer League.  The teams will be open to Reservoir HS girls (including incoming freshmen) who have played High School Volleyball, Club Volleyball, or in a Recreational Volleyball League.  The league will begin the week of July 5th and run 5 weeks. Varsity will play on Thursday nights (6:00/7:00) and JV will play on Wednesday nights (6:00/7:00).  Players will be placed on a team by grade and/or experience.

What is the Reservoir HS Summer League?

Reservoir HS will participate in the Maryland Juniors High School Summer League. Reservoir will enter

Varsity and JV teams. Multiple high schools in Howard County and outside of Howard County will compete

against one another.

Where does Summer League take place?

Our teams will play at the Maryland Juniors Sports Center (8221 Preston Ct, Jessup, MD 20794).

Can my daughter’s friend play on one of the teams? 

We are creating teams for Reservoir High School students that have played high school volleyball, club

volleyball, or played in the Howard County Recreational League. Players WILL NOT be taught to play

volleyball. It is expected that the player is experienced and can jump right in and play immediately.

Who will coach the teams?

Varsity teams will coach themselves. JV teams will be coached by Varsity players.

When does the Maryland Juniors High School Summer League begin?

The league starts the week of July 5 th , 2023 and ends the week of August 2 nd , 2023.

What days and times?

Varsity Teams will play on Thursdays at (6:00pm or 7:00pm)

JV Teams will play on Wednesday at (6:00pm or 7:00pm)

● 5 week league, 3 weeks of pool play and 2 weeks of playoffs (all teams head to playoffs)

● 1 match per week, 2 sets to 25 and 1 set to 15.

When will I find out what team my child is on? 

The players will receive a GroupMe chat invitation (Players/ Coaches only) for their specific team during the

first week of July. The GroupMe chat invitation will be sent to the player’s cell phone provided at

registration. Please reach out to Michele Esch (mesch3504@gmail.com) if your daughter has not received a

GroupMe invitation by July 5 th .

When will we receive the schedule?

A schedule will be sent to all parents via email during the first week of July. Maryland Juniors creates the

schedules and posts them to the website. Sometimes, Maryland Juniors does not post the schedule until 2-3

days before the first match.

Do the teams practice?

The teams do not practice. Players are more than welcome to get together at an Open Gym and practice

together. Maryland Juniors has an Open Gym for $10 each player every Friday.

Am I allowed to miss a match?

Yes. Plenty of players have vacation, volleyball camps, and clinics. We ask that the player inform their

team’s GroupMe chat at least one week prior to the match, so that their team has time to invite other

players from another team if necessary.

Will uniforms be distributed?

No. Uniforms will not be distributed. The individual teams decide on a color each week in the team’s

GroupMe chat.
